Namba (kanji: 難波; hiragana: なんば) is an urban area with big neon advertisements and many food shops along the famous Dotombori River (kanji: 道頓堀川; hiragana: どうとんぼりがわ).
Shinsaibashi (kanji:心斎橋; hiragana:しんさいばし), adjacent to Namba, is popular for its many brand-name shops.
Additionally, Shinsaibashisuji-Shotengai (kanji: 心斎橋筋商店街; hiragana: しんさいばしすじしょうてんがい) is a lengthy shopping arcade that is popular with locals and tourists. Midosuji (kanji: 御堂筋; hiragana: みどうすじ) Street and Shinsaibashisuji-Shotengai run parallel to each other, and are linked by several paths.

There are many famous brand-name shops along Midosuji Street. A long shopping arcade called “Shinsaibashisuji-Shotengai" runs parallel to Midosuji Street. A variety of grocery items are sold at drug stores, 100-yen shops, the variety item stores, and other local shops. You’ll definitely find a lot of great deals!

Ujien has offered a variety of Japanese tea since 1869. The Shinsaibashi main store has been managed since 1944. Their tea was highly regarded, the special, expensive tea bottle "Bottoling Tea - GOTAS" were served to the leaders in G7 summit in 2016, and G20 summit in 2019. Although Ujien is one of the most trustworthy tea shop, they are trying new product such as Konpeito (kanji: 金平糖; hiragana:こんぺいとう: star-sharped traditional candy), tea-flavor chocolate and cakes. The Macha-Mont Blanc Cake in the left photo is freshly prepared in front of customers. So tasty!

There are brand-name shops of clothes, footwear, cosmetics, bags, and accessories. On the 9th floor, you can buy goods of Manga characters such as Pokemon, One Piece, Kimetsu-No-Yaiba, Haikyu, Dragon-ball, and so on. You can see and take a photo with alife-size dolls of Tanjiro and Monkey-D-Luffy!
Food
Top among the must-eat foods in the Namba area are “Konamon" (kanji: 粉もん; hiragana: こなもん) soul foods.
The term “Konamon” basically means “flour-based cuisine”, and includes foods such as Takoyaki (Kanji: たこ焼き; hiragana: たこやき), which is sauce-covered dumplings with chunks of octopus meat inside; Okonomiyaki (kanji: お好み焼き; hiragana: おこのみやき), a savory, cabbage-based “pizza”; and Yakisoba (kanji: 焼きそば; hiragana: やきそば) , which is grilled meat, vegetables and noodles, mixed with a delicious sauce!

Neon Advertisements
The Glico food company's gigantic LED advertisement is a popular photo spot. A boat tour on the Dotombori River is another option to do here, when the weather is nice. Some unique boat tours are offered. You can feel the bustle of riverside!
Hozenji
Hozenji Temple is a small, but venerable temple which was established in1637. When you visit here, splash the moss-covered "Mizukake-Fudo" statue with water, and then make a wish to it for yoru good fortune.

If you are interested in practicing your Japanese language skills, a typical comedy show named "Yoshimoto Shinkigeki (kanji: 吉本新喜劇; hiragana: よしもとしんきげき)" might make you laugh. Performances are held at the "Namba Ground Kagetsu (hiragana, katakana & kanji: なんばグランド花月; hiragana: なんばぐらんどかげつ)" theater.
